Edinson Argote and his farm La Quebradita have proven to produce some of the most expressive and interesting competition-level coffee in recent years, and this Gesha lot is no exception. Edinson was formerly the QC manager at Wilton Benitez’s famous farm, Granja Paraiso 92, and has gathered the sensory and processing skills required to produce this excellent coffee.

Founded by 2024 US Barista Champion Frank La, BeBright Coffee is a pillar of the vibrant Los Angeles coffee scene.

Unquestionably the most coveted variety of Coffea arabica, Gesha has taken a journey around the world from its origins in the forests of South West region of Ethiopia to research stations in Tanzania, then Costa Rica. Finally, it was distributed throughout South and Central America, where it was recognized for its resistance to Coffee Leaf Rust. In 2005, the Peterson family of Hacienda La Esmeralda in Boquete, Panama, swept the Best of Panama auction with an exceptional Gesha lot. Gesha is revered for its intense florality, deep sweetness, complex citrus and stone fruit notes, and luxurious body.

Edinson’s characteristic experimentation has yielded an intensely floral and fruited coffee. A 72-hour natural fermentation is followed by a slow drying over 12 days, before they’re rehydrated and inoculated with select strains of beer and wine yeast for an additional fermentation stage, before finally being dried on raised beds.

This coffee was grown at Edinson’s farm La Quebradita in Timaná, Huila, Colombia, at an elevation of 1,850 masl. This particular harvest period was November through December 2024. The high elevation allows for greater diurnal temperature shifts, slowing maturation and accumulating sugars in the coffee cherries.
